Below is my profile form my official launch as Liberal Democrat candidate in Chells Ward, Stevenage for the local elections on May 5th 20111.

I do not like the first photo. But then again I rarely like formal photos of myself.

Tim Neale’s parents were among the first to move out to Stevenage New Town. He was born here in 1961 and was brought up in Collenswood Road, where his parents still live. He says he, “Grew up with town.”

He attended Ashtree and Nobel Schools and apart from time away at London and Cranfield Universities he has lived in Stevenage all his life.

He has worked ABB and Fujitsu before going freelance four years ago. He currently works from home.

Tim first became a “community activist” (a phrase he dislikes), to try and get a better service for Stevenage Homes leaseholders like him self. He says that the website he maintains Stevenage Leaseholders Online, “Provides a space for dissatisfied leaseholders to connect and organize.”

“Staff at Stevenage Homes read the site, even if no one else does.”

More recently hew has become involved with residents concerned with the Marriotts School redevelopment.

Asked why he wants to be a councillor, he explains, “My involvement with leaseholders’ and the Marriotts redevelopment brought home to me how impotent and frustrated ordinary people feel when faced with a large bureaucracy. I want to try and even things up a bit.”

Tim is a passionate follower of the England football team. He travelled to South Africa last year for the FIFA world cup. He has yet to miss an England game at the rebuilt Wembley stadium.

In his very little free time you will probably find him listening to live music somewhere.
